Wheel walkers

Wheel walkers are becoming more popular because they give those who have trouble walking more mobility.

There are not a lot of differences between wheel walkers and standard walkers, but the differences that do exist are significant. Wheel walkers are pretty much just like standard walkers except for the fact that they include tires or small rolling wheels.

Some people who know they will need a walker ask themselves which type of walker might be a better for them.

• Wheel walkers – Wheel walkers can be advantageous because they do not involve constantly lifingt to move the walker. This is something that causes some people shoulder pain. Although this is an advantage, you need to be able to use this advantage. Some people are not able to hold themselves stable enough to use wheel walkers. There are parking brakes on many walkers, but you need to remember to use them.

• Normal walkers – If you would like to get a little more upper body exercise when you are using a walker, you may opt to use a typical walker instead of rolling walkers. In general, if a person is looking for stability, then a typical walker without wheels might come in handy.
Wheel walkers and other walkers are similar in price, although wheel walkers tend to usually cost a little bit more. It may be wise to check with your doctor before deciding which kind of walker to purchase.
